Massage FAQ's
Have some questions about Massage Therapy?
Answered below are some common ones:
Is massage painful?
Some discomfort during a massage is normal, but sharp pain isn’t. You may feel strong pressure or a “good ache”. mild soreness afterward is common and will dissipate after a day or so, if longer, the pressure was too intense and should be adjusted next time.
Massage should always be a pleasant experience, it does not have to hurt to be effective!
Is it ok to ask for more or less pressure?
Yes! Your therapist will check with you during your massage to make sure the pressure is comfortable for you.
Please, at any point, speak up and ask your therapist if you'd like more or less pressure during you session. We are here to help you get the most out of your treatment!
Should I tip for my massage?
Short answer, no, because Massage Therapy is healthcare! But, some people want the choice to do so for the service provided. Tipping is totally optional and personal. There is no obligation to!
What will happen at my first appointment?
You can expect a welcoming, professional experience focused on your comfort and safety. Your registered massage therapist will review your health history, discuss your goals, and explain the treatment before beginning. You’ll be given privacy to get comfortable on the table and will be properly draped at all times. During the treatment, pressure and techniques are adjusted to your needs. Open communication is encouraged so you feel relaxed, supported, and at ease.
Do i need to remove all of my clothes?
No! Your therapist will ask you to undress to your comfort level. Most commonly, clients leave their underwear on (massage can be altered to treat over the clothes if needed) the therapist will leave the room while you undress and get under the sheets and onto the massage table. You will always be covered, only areas of the body being treated will be uncovered at the time.
Should I talk during my massage?
Some people prefer to chat during their massage session but don't feel you have to make conversation. If you want to close your eyes and relax, that's alright, just mention you want to be quiet. No offense will be taken!
Do speak up if
●You're feeling hot or cold
●You're in pain
●You have questions, or you forgot to mention something important
